Protest part of a broader wave of demonstrations across the world, which responded to military operations in the Middle East over the past months..
Anti-war protesters and anti-government demonstrators rallied in downtown Montreal on Saturday March 14, 2026.
This is the third consecutive week of protests over Iran and the Middle East conflict.
The crowd marched with Palestinian, Iranian, and Lebanese flags. They also held signs which read 'Those who are killing little girls in Gaza, Lebanon and Iran are raping little girls in our backyard / Pick a side!' Counter-protesters rally with Israeli, US, and Iranian opposition flags and a banner with Trump's image reading 'Help is on its way / MIGA (Make Iran Great Again)' as police maintain a presence between both groups.
"We're on the streets to protest against Zionist and American attacks on the region. Either the bombardments in Iran or in Lebanon that started a few days ago, and the forced moving of hundreds of thousands of people in the region," explained Boutaina Chafi, a member of Montreal Youth Palestine.
"We are against foreign interventions in our region. All we want is our country to control its borders and to stop the massacres in the region," Chafi added.
Anti-government demonstrators expressed support for US operations against the Iranian regime. "We are here to show our support to people of Iran, inside Iran, who don't have access to the Internet and free communications, so no one is hearing them, but we try to be their voice," said Azadeh.
"Iran tried for over thirty years to overthrow this government, but they are very suppressive, they are very powerful. They kill people each time and we don't have any other option than having international help," she continued.
"I lost my country 47 years ago, and I don't want to lose my other country as well," proclaimed another counter-protester, Mahbod Nazeri, stressing, "The Iranian government is the biggest supporter of all terrorist groups. Unfortunately, there are 700 of these supporters in Canada. I would like the Canadian government to take care of this."
