The 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) delivered a spectacular celebration of African cinema as Nollywood stars, filmmakers, and creatives gathered in Lagos for a night filled with emotional wins, stunning fashion, unforgettable performances, and major industry milestones.

CBI News reports that the event held at Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos. The 12th edition of the AMVCA honoured outstanding achievements in film and television across Africa, with actors Uzor Arukwe and Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman emerging among the night’s biggest winners.

My Father’s Shadow clinched the prestigious Best Movie award, while Uzor Arukwe won Best Lead Actor for his performance in Colours of Fire. Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman also stole the spotlight after winning Best Lead Actress for The Serpent’s Gift.

Another emotional highlight came when Lateef Adedimeji accepted the award for Best Indigenous Language Film (West Africa) for Lisabi, dedicating the honour to his wife, Adebimpe Adedimeji, following the birth of their triplets.

Ahead of the ceremony, Gingerrr and The Herd led the nominations with nine nods each, while To Kill A Monkey and My Father’s Shadow remained fan favourites throughout the awards season.

Beyond the awards, AMVCA 2026 once again dominated social media with glamorous red carpet appearances, daring fashion statements, and electrifying performances, including a standout appearance by Tiwa Savage.

The ceremony also highlighted Nollywood’s growing global influence, with organisers recognising excellence across acting, directing, technical production, and indigenous storytelling categories.
