Alcaraz reaches Indian Wells quarters..
Carlos Alcaraz extended his unbeaten start to 2026 with a 6-1, 7-6(2) victory over Casper Ruud on Wednesday to reach the quarter-finals of the Indian Wells tournament for the fifth consecutive year.
The world number one, who won the prestigious ATP Masters 1000 event in the California desert in 2023 and 2024, will next face Britain’s Cameron Norrie for a place in the semi-finals.
Norrie, champion at Indian Wells in 2021, advanced after defeating Australian qualifier Rinki Hijikata 6-4, 6-2.
In early 2026, the 22-year-old became the youngest man to complete a career Grand Slam after winning the Australian Open. He followed that triumph with the Qatar Open title and, with three wins so far at Indian Wells, has now taken his season record to 15-0.
