Good news is coming from Osun State as Governor Ademola Adeleke has approved a health insurance scheme for traditional rulers and their spouses — a move many see as a major boost for healthcare access across royal institutions in the state.
According to cbinews.tv, the Osun Health Insurance Agency (OHIS) has begun plans to enrol monarchs and their wives into the State Health Insurance Scheme.
The agency says the initiative highlights the Adeleke administration’s commitment to making quality and affordable healthcare available to everyone in Osun State, regardless of status or background.
Speaking on the development via the state’s X handle on Monday, the Executive Secretary of OHIS, Rasaq Akindele, revealed that all necessary arrangements have already been put in place to ensure a smooth registration process.
He explained that officials of the agency will begin visiting royal palaces across the state from Wednesday, 20 May 2026, to commence the enrolment exercise, which is expected to last for two weeks.
Akindele noted that the decision reflects the government’s concern for the health and wellbeing of the people, including respected traditional rulers who continue to play vital roles in promoting peace, unity, and development across Osun State.
He also assured residents that OHIS remains committed to implementing people-focused healthcare policies aimed at improving the quality of life for citizens throughout the state.
