Minister says Oyo unable to complete a power project...
A war of words has broken out between the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and the Oyo State Government over the state’s 11MW Independent Power Project (IPP) located at the Agodi Secretariat.
During a meeting with the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) and other stakeholders, Adelabu criticised the Oyo State government’s handling of its power initiative.
He described the 11kV project at the Secretariat as "moribund," claiming it has never generated or supplied a single kilowatt of power to the residents of Oyo State. The minister alleged that "millions" of state funds were spent on the project with no tangible results.
He argued that the state government has no moral standing to criticise the Federal Government’s power sector performance when its own flagship project has "failed woefully.
