Minister Adelabu's denies viral resignation letter...
The Special Adviser on Strategic Communications and Media to the Minister of Power, Bolaji Tunji, has dismissed reports claiming that Adebayo Adelabu has resigned from office.
Speaking in a telephone interview with Television Continental, Tunji described the reports as false, insisting that the minister remains focused on his duties.
He stated that Adelabu has not submitted any resignation letter and urged those spreading the claims to stop circulating misinformation.
Tunji was reacting to a purported resignation letter dated March 26, 2026, allegedly written by Adelabu to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which has been trending on social media.
In the viral letter, the minister was said to have stepped down to pursue his ambition of contesting for the Oyo State governorship seat.
However, Tunji maintained that the claims are baseless and do not reflect the minister’s position, stressing that Adelabu remains committed to his responsibilities in the power sector.
He also warned against the spread of unverified information capable of misleading the public.
The clarification comes amid a directive by President Tinubu requiring cabinet members interested in contesting the 2027 elections to resign on or before March 31, in line with the Electoral Act.
