Nigeria's Opposition party ADC laments state of affairs as Tinubu marks 74th birthday...
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Sunday criticised President Bola Tinubu on the occasion of his birthday, citing worsening economic hardship and insecurity in the country.
In a statement posted on X by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said the administration’s “Renewed Hope” agenda had instead brought “hardship and discouragement” to many Nigerians.
Abdullahi said citizens were grappling with rising fuel prices and deteriorating security, noting that violence had continued to spread across parts of the country, with lives lost and communities displaced.
He added that the sharp increase in fuel prices had made daily living more difficult, while the handling of insecurity remained a major concern.
The ADC spokesman urged the president to use the occasion of his birthday for reflection, calling on him to take governance more seriously in the coming year.
In the statement, the party said Nigeria had climbed on the Global Terrorism Index and described the economic strain on citizens as deepening, with the cost of living rising sharply.
It also raised concerns about what it described as a narrowing political space, warning of a possible drift toward a one-party state.
The party concluded by wishing the president good health, while urging improved judgment and a greater sense of responsibility in leadership.
