Fintiri condemns violence, attacks in Adamawa....
Guyaku community in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Northeast Nigeria has been thrown into mourning following a deadly attack by suspected Boko Haram insurgents that left at least 29 people dead.
The attack, which occurred on Sunday evening, comes barely two days after a similar incident in Mayo Ladde community of Hong Local Government Area.
This has heightened fears of renewed insecurity across the state.
Guyaku, a largely agrarian and previously peaceful community, was reportedly invaded by heavily armed assailants who unleashed violence on residents. Eyewitness accounts say the attackers killed dozens, razed homes, and destroyed properties, leaving hundreds displaced and traumatised.
A resident, Kumo Aggrey Ali, who witnessed the attack, described the scene as chaotic and terrifying, as families scrambled for safety amid gunfire and destruction.
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri who visited the affected community, expressed deep concern over the incident. Moving through the ruins, the governor commiserated with grieving residents and condemned the perpetrators, describing the attack as “inhumane and senseless.”
He assured the people of the government’s commitment to restoring peace and preventing further attacks, while directing security agencies to intensify operations in the affected areas.
Despite the assurances and increased security presence, tension remains high, with many residents fleeing Guyaku to neighbouring communities over fears of another possible attack.
Authorities say efforts are ongoing to stabilise the area and provide support to displaced persons as investigations continue.
