Super Eagles camp has grown to 22 players as preparations continue for friendlies against Iran and Jordan...
The Super Eagles of Nigeria camp in Antalya, Turkey, has swelled to 22 players as preparations intensify for upcoming international friendlies against Iran and Jordan.
However, the squad has suffered a setback with defender Calvin Bassey withdrawing due to a back injury, forcing a late adjustment for the technical crew.
CBI News reports that preparations began on Tuesday, March 24, at the Bellis Deluxe Hotel, where an initial batch of 15 players arrived.
The number increased later that night with the arrival of winger Samuel Chukwueze and goalkeeper Maduka Okoye.
Further reinforcements joined on Wednesday morning, including Ademola Lookman, Igoh Ogbu, Raphael Onyedika, Akor Adams and Zaidu Sanusi, bringing the squad closer to full strength.
Team captain Wilfred Ndidi has also linked up with the squad as training activities gather momentum.
Head coach Éric Chelle is expected to oversee the team’s first full training session later on Wednesday, as preparations continue ahead of the fixtures.
Players already in camp include Alex Iwobi, Paul Onuachu, Moses Simon, Francis Uzoho, Frank Onyeka, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Semi Ajayi, Adebayo Adeleye, Chidera Ejuke and Philip Otele.
Nigeria will face Iran at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 27, before taking on Jordan next Tuesday, as the three-time African champions fine-tune preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
