President Tinubu urges SGF George Akume and Gov. Hyacinth Alia to reconcile for Benue’s peace, highlights reforms and grassroots mobilisation ahead of 2027.
President Bola Tinubu has called on the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, and Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, to reconcile their differences in the interest of peace and development in the state.
Tinubu, represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, made the appeal at the Progressives Governors Forum Renewed Hope Ambassadors Summit 2026 held at the State House Conference Hall in Abuja.
He stressed that Benue deserved unity and progress, urging both leaders to prioritise collective interest over personal disagreements.
“What binds us together supersedes whatever divides us,” Tinubu said, emphasising national cohesion and the need for collaboration ahead of 2027.
The President noted that his administration had moved from economic stabilisation in 2025 to acceleration in 2026, anchored on a N58.18 trillion budget. He said record capital expenditure, increased security funding and revenue reforms aimed at strengthening resilience and driving growth.
Tinubu also underscored the importance of effective communication in governance, charging the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to bridge information gaps, counter misinformation and engage citizens at the grassroots.
Governor Hope Uzodimma, Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, reaffirmed support for Tinubu’s reform agenda, describing it as focused on long-term national interest.
Similarly, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, said the party remained committed to disciplined grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
CBI News reports that the summit, themed “Taking Renewed Hope to the Grassroots: One Party, One Message, One Mobilisation Framework,” emphasised unity, reform continuity and strategic engagement with Nigerians.
