Okpebholo says Edo State will deliver 2.5 million votes for Bola Tinubu in 2027 elections.
Governor Monday Okpebholo has declared that Edo State is firmly positioned for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of Nigeria's 2027 general elections, insisting the state will deliver 2.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu.
He made the declaration on Wednesday at a rally in Benin City where members of the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) formally defected to the APC.
Speaking at the event held at Garrick Memorial Ground along Ekenwan Road, the governor described the influx of new members as evidence of growing confidence in the ruling party.
“I thank members of the APC for the unity we enjoyed in the party. We have a good father in President Tinubu and we all stand here today because we are proud of him and ready to deliver Edo for APC come 2027,” he said.
He added confidently: “2027 and 2.5 million votes is sure for Tinubu. The president should relax and come to Edo to commission projects, not to campaign, as the state is sure and settled for APC.”
CBI News reports that Okpebholo attributed the party’s growing support to what he described as visible development across the state, stating that governance achievements would outweigh campaign rhetoric.
“All we do in Edo State is practical governance and the people can see development. Every kobo spent in Edo State is gotten from President Tinubu,” he stated.
During the rally, the governor also invited media personalities Oseni Rufai and Reuben Abati to conduct a project inspection tour of the state, expressing confidence that firsthand assessment would validate his claims.
“I invite Rufai and Abati to Edo State and will take them on a projects tour in the state. By the time I take them round for a few days inspecting projects, you will not only campaign but vote for President Tinubu in 2027,” he said.
He further noted that with 31 governors currently elected on the APC platform nationwide, the ruling party remains politically strong, adding that more alignments are expected ahead of the next election cycle.
