The Labour Party in Nasarawa State has elected Asoloko Maku as its new chairman, signalling a renewed push for unity, grassroots mobilisation and preparations for the 2027 general elections under the Nenadi Usman-led leadership.
According to reports by cbinews.tv, members of the Labour Party in Nasarawa State loyal to the Senator Nenadi Usman-led administration have elected a new state chairman to steer the affairs of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during a press conference in Lafia on Tuesday, the newly elected chairman, Asoloko Maku, described the recently concluded congresses as evidence that the Labour Party in Nasarawa State remains united, resilient and prepared for the future.
Maku stated that despite opposition and criticism from detractors, the party had continued to uphold democratic principles and the rule of law.
“I am honoured and privileged to address the press today, not just as the Chairman of the Labour Party in Nasarawa State, but as a humble servant and a messenger of hope,” he said.
He expressed appreciation to the 13 Local Government chairmen and secretaries elected during the peaceful congresses and pledged to lead an inclusive administration focused on grassroots mobilisation, transparency and party unity.
Maku called on members with differing opinions to unite for the collective goal of securing victory in 2027, stressing that the Labour Party represents a movement for social justice and equity.
He also assured supporters that the party would continue to champion the welfare of ordinary Nigerians, including farmers, traders and youths across Nasarawa State.
Speaking on the party’s leadership crisis, Maku noted that several court rulings delivered between 2025 and 2026 had resolved internal disputes and affirmed Senator Nenadi Usman as the legitimate leader of the party.
According to him, the Supreme Court judgment of April 4, 2025, nullified the convention that returned Barrister Julius Abure, while subsequent rulings by the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal upheld the Nenadi Usman-led caretaker committee.
Maku urged party members to remain focused and begin immediate preparations for the 2027 elections by strengthening party structures and rebuilding public trust.
He further declared that the Labour Party was determined to win elective positions across Nasarawa State and Nigeria.
