He has only just left the PDP, but Governor Bala Mohammed is already lining up his next move for 2027, and it is happening under the APM umbrella.

So here is what went down. According to a report by cbinewstv, Governor Bala Mohammed joined APM stakeholders, supporters and political associates from across Bauchi State on Friday to intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.

In a post on his X handle, he confirmed two big announcements. First, the party has officially unveiled Dr Yakubu Adamu as its governorship candidate for Bauchi, with Hon. Mahmood Babamaji Abubakar as his running mate. Second, Bala himself has picked up the APM ticket for Bauchi South Senatorial District.

He put it quite plainly: “Today, I joined stakeholders... as we intensified preparations for the 2027 general elections... I am also deeply honoured by the confidence reposed in me as the party’s senatorial candidate for Bauchi South.”

He said the move is all about unity and positioning, a collective determination to strengthen the party, expand its base, and get set for victory in 2027.

The governor, who recently dumped the PDP for the APM following the party's protracted leadership crisis, also shared what Adamu told the crowd. Adamu promised to sustain and build on the developmental strides already recorded in the state, with a focus on inclusive leadership and continuity.

Adamu emphasised the need for greater collaboration, appealed to former aspirants to set aside differences, and reaffirmed his commitment to infrastructure development, economic growth, youth empowerment, and social welfare programmes that will improve the lives of Bauchi people.

In short, Bala is not retiring from the frontline, he is simply changing jerseys, and he is bringing a full ticket with him.
