The lawmakers say they resigned their membership of the PDP due to crisis in the party...
Fifteen lawmakers in the Adamawa State House of Assembly have resigned their membership from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The lawmakers, including the Speaker, cited the ongoing crisis within the PDP in separate letters read on the floor of the House during a plenary sitting as reasons for withdrawing their membership.
This development comes amid speculation that Governor Ahmadu Fintiri may be preparing to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC. Reports suggest that as many as 25 members of the Assembly, along with all party executives and key stakeholders within the Adamawa State PDP and the current administration, could move with him.
The APC members in the state assembly expressed satisfaction with the development, as one of the affected lawmakers spoke about their next political direction and the reasons behind the move.
