No La Liga? No Champions League? No problem. Real Madrid just made more money than any sports club in history – and the secret isn't what happened on the pitch.
Money really does talk at the Bernabéu.
As reported by cbinews.tv, Real Madrid have just become the first sports organisation ever to smash through the €1.2 billion revenue barrier, posting a jaw-dropping €1.221 billion for the 2025/26 financial year.
And here’s the kicker – they did it in a season where they didn’t win a single major trophy.
So, if it’s not prize money, where on earth is all that cash coming from?
Forget goals for a second. The newly redeveloped Santiago Bernabéu is now a money-making machine.
The stadium alone brought in €363 million this year – that’s more than double what it was making before the renovation started back in 2019.
It’s no longer just a football ground. It’s concerts, events, hospitality, tours – a proper 365-day commercial asset. The club has now pumped over €1.4 billion into the redevelopment, and it’s clearly paying off.
Even with all that spending, Madrid still ended the year with €83 million cash in the bank, access to €475 million in credit, and just €9 million net debt if you strip out the stadium financing. Not bad at all.
And get this – they also posted record EBITDA of €287.4 million (up 18%) and a net profit of €26.3 million (up 8%). That’s now 26 years in a row they’ve made a profit. Twenty-six!
Sponsors Are Still Queuing Up.
Away from the stadium, the commercial side is flying too.
Marketing revenue shot up to €539 million thanks to renewed sponsorship deals and shiny new partnerships. Merch sales dipped a tiny bit, but the big sponsorship money more than covered it.
In fact, since 2018/19, the club’s revenue has grown by a massive 61%, and 93% of that growth came from businesses they control directly – not TV money.
That’s very deliberate. It means they’re no longer relying on winning trophies or waiting for that TV rights cheque.
They’re still investing heavily, though – €192 million went into squads, facilities and tech this year, including €161 million on new players for both football and basketball. And wages? Still super healthy at just 46% of revenue, well below that 50% danger line everyone in football talks about.
The Bigger Picture
What this shows, as cbinews.tv points out, is that elite football has changed.
Winning is still massive for the brand, but Real Madrid have just proved you can build a business model that doesn’t collapse if you have a trophyless season. Modern stadiums, clever sponsorships, and giving fans an experience – that’s the new playbook.
For every other big club in Europe watching on? The message is loud and clear.
