That winning feeling is back — and Raducanu just found it on home grass.
Emma Raducanu is officially up and running on grass — and she made it look easy.
The British number one breezed past Russian qualifier Anna Blinkova 6-0 6-3 in her Queen’s opener, bagging her first win since March and looking right at home doing it. Honestly, it was one-way traffic early on. Raducanu rattled off the first eight games without dropping a single one, setting the tone for what she hopes is a proper Wimbledon warm-up.
It’s been a rough few months for the 23-year-old. She last won a match back on 6 March at Indian Wells against Anastasia Zakharova, then a nasty post-viral illness knocked her off the WTA Tour for over two months. Her clay comeback didn’t go to plan either, with first-round exits in Strasbourg and at Roland Garros.
But back on the London grass? Different story. Raducanu looked relaxed, sharp, and — most importantly — happy to be playing in front of a home crowd again.
“I’m so happy to have come through that match. To be back here playing at Queen’s… I haven’t actually won a match for a few months and there isn’t a place I would rather have done it. I’m really grateful for all the support,” she told fans after the match, per *cbinews.tv*.
She’s calling it a “really good stepping stone” for Wimbledon, and based on that performance, you can see why she’s optimistic.
