Bakare urges Tinubu to issue national apology and adopt stronger measures to address insecurity...
Lead Pastor of the Citadel Global Community Church and former presidential aspirant, Tunde Bakare, has called on President Bola Tinubu to issue a public apology to communities ravaged by years of insecurity across the country.
Speaking on Sunday during his State of the Nation Address in Lagos, Bakare said such an apology would demonstrate a national commitment to justice and healing.
CBI News reports that Bakare acknowledged that the president had taken initial steps to tackle insecurity but insisted that stronger, deeper action was necessary to rebuild public confidence.
According to Bakare, the government must begin by accepting responsibility for its long-standing failure to protect Nigerians from terrorism, banditry, and other violent crimes.
He proposed a comprehensive plan that includes a Victims and Survivors Register, a national apology to affected communities within three months, and midterm compensation for those affected.
He stressed that accountability remains essential for restoring trust and breaking the cycle of violence.
Meanwhile, Bakare also alleged that U.S. President Donald Trump designated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) due to America’s interest in Nigeria’s oil wealth.
He claimed Trump’s administration viewed Nigeria’s natural resources, mineral sector, real estate, and other strategic industries as central to its agenda.
CBI News also understands that Bakare further recalled receiving a vision shortly after Trump won the 2024 U.S. election.
In the vision, he said Trump arrived in Sabo, Yaba, Lagos, aboard Air Force One, “dressed in Arabian thobe and ghutra” and declaring, “We are here now.”
He said the revelation signified the heightened interest Trump would have in Nigeria, tied to Middle Eastern politics, oil and gas, real estate, and the nation’s expanding technology industry.
