Planning to travel for Sallah? There’s good news for rail passengers as the Nigerian Railway Corporation is adding extra Lagos–Ibadan train trips, while the Osun State Government is once again offering free train rides for indigenes travelling home for the celebration.
Travelling for Sallah just got easier
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced extra Lagos–Ibadan train trips ahead of the festive season to help ease the expected rush of passengers.
According to a statement made available to cbinewstv by NRC spokesperson Callistus Unyimadu, the special arrangement will see six train trips operate on Tuesday, May 26, instead of the usual four.
For travellers leaving Lagos, trains will depart at 7:45am, 1:40pm and 4:00pm, while passengers departing from Ibadan will board trains at 8:00am, 10:50am and 4:30pm.
The NRC explained that the adjustment is temporary and strictly for the Sallah travel period. Normal schedules will return after the celebration.
There’s also good news for Osun indigenes living in Lagos. The Osun State Government will once again sponsor free Sallah train services from Iddo Station in Lagos to Osogbo.
The free train will leave Lagos on Tuesday, May 26, while the return journey from Osogbo back to Lagos is scheduled for Thursday, May 28.
The annual initiative, organised in partnership with the NRC, is aimed at helping Osun indigenes travel home to celebrate Sallah with their families at no cost.
The NRC says it remains committed to providing safe, reliable and efficient rail transport services across Nigeria as millions prepare for the festivities.
