The Nigeria Football Federation dismissed social media reports alleging Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle demanded a new $130,000 monthly contract.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has dismissed a viral report alleging that Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, made fresh demands as a condition to continue handling the national team.
According to the circulating claims on social media, Chelle who reportedly earns about $50,000 monthly was said to have requested a new contract worth $130,000 per month.
The report further alleged that he demanded formal contracts for his technical crew, a private SUV with chauffeur and security detail, a secure residence with guaranteed 24-hour power supply, and a fully furnished office equipped with a projector and internet access for match analysis.
CBI News reports that other purported requests included business class flight tickets for himself and his wife, economy class tickets for his two children, GPS provisions, and adequate coaching equipment.
The viral claims also suggested that Chelle sought greater autonomy in player selection, including the authority to determine international friendly matches and camping programmes, initiate youth development initiatives, and travel abroad to scout national team players.
Domestically, he was said to have requested arrangements to attend local league matches to identify talent for the senior team as well as the U23, U20 and U17 squads.
However, reacting to the reports, the NFF’s Director of Communication, Ademola Olajire, denied any knowledge of such demands.
“Sincerely, I am not aware,” he stated, according to Leadership.
