After a tense night of sirens and shelters, Israeli parents can finally dig out the lunchboxes again, classes are back Tuesday.

Well, that was a short-lived closure.

cbinewstv report that Israel's education ministry confirmed on Monday that schools will reopen across the country on Tuesday, just 24 hours after they were ordered shut because of Iranian missile attacks.

In its statement, the ministry put it plainly:

“In accordance with the updated directives of the Home Front Command, studies will resume tomorrow in all educational institutions throughout the country and will take place in full, in-person and within the regular educational frameworks.”

So, no more Zoom lessons, no hybrid timetables, it's back to normal classrooms for most pupils.

There is one big caveat if you live up north. In several communities along the Lebanese border, lessons can only go ahead if they're held right next to a protected space. The ministry says that's because of the ongoing risk of incoming projectiles from Iran-backed Hezbollah.

It has been a whiplash for a few days for families, one day everything is cancelled, the next day it's "see you at the school gate." For now, though, the official word is clear: bags packed, uniforms on, and back to school Tuesday.
